Thumbs up

I was pulling in my driveway which inclines from the street. I stopped on the incline. I got a yellow profile of the car displayed
with as arrow pointing left under the front of the car displayed and an arrow under the rear of the car displayed. The arrows had a bunch of dashes between the arrows. <-------->

I have seen a bird's eye view of the car in yellow if a door is ajar indicating which door, but, I have never seen this before.

Sounds like you were in neutral and the car was warning you that you will roll. I get that everyday cuz i park in neutral when i'm in my garage.

Shhh to those who want to tell me to park in gear.

Yes, I've seen it and I'm pretty sure I've seen it in similar circumstances. I think what happens is that any time the car is in motion but not in drive or reverse, that warning pops up. It's possible that you were moving just a bit as you shifted from drive to reverse and the car threw the warning up during the split second the car was in between gears (neutral).

I was looking thru the owners manuals on e60 information network and could not find any symbol resembling it (i only looked in the warning and indicators section)

I discoverd the car has to be in neutral and a door open to get that displayed.

I had this happen to me a while back. I think what happened was that you shifted into reverse but the gear did not "snap in place." In other words it was stuck in between neutral and reverse so when you opened the door the error message popped up.

It's warning you that you haven't put the gear selector into 'P' AND driver door has been opened.

Come to think of it, that's true...

I still think I remember seeing it pop up randomly without the door being opened but maybe I was dreaming...
