Congrats with your new car and welcome in the "CIC club". I have been enjoying the new Idrive since December 2008 and as you say it's so easy to use. The new Audi MMI is nothing compared to this. Also the new voice control is amazing. Now you can actually say the city or street name. You don't have to spell letter by letter.

Those pictures are nice, too bad it took BMW seven years to bring this looks and feature to the NAV. My 2003 G35 had this NAV look with all the icons and the street names in the 3D or birdview, they even gave you the option to assign certain icons for example you can assign a tower for your work place which you can see on the map etc. I would love to get this on my E60. I don't know why BMW cannot give us a software update to get the full NAV. The maps can be on a DVD, it doesn't have to be on a hard drive. Infinity had it on a DVD and was not enough a dual layer. Maybe we should bombard BMW North America with e-mails requesting a software update for our E60. I know it is a long shot but it is worth it. What do you think?

I suppose BMW wants to sell new cars not only software upgrades.

Looks great....probably requires more than a software update to get that on our older cars

Is there any major change in display itself like extra pixels?
