I have the HTC HD2 through T-mobile. I like the phone. It paired with the car with no problem. Only thing that you may not like, it's Windows based. Not a lot of apps for it and most of the ones that are available you have to pay to get.

I have an Evo and it pairs like a dream. It connects really fast. When I start my car and by the time the warning screen goes off, I can view my phone book on the car.
I think all the super* Android phones should behave similarly.
*1ghz cpu + Android 2.1 or higher

I recently went from a Motorola Droid to the Droid2 and it pairs up perfectly!
As for pairing new phones, be sure to delete ALL previous pairings and try again!

You're taking three elements in this equation (the car, the phones, and you) and jumping to the conclusion that because the phones don't pair up with the car, the car must be at fault. Don't forget the other more likely element - you. I hear it half a dozen times a day "it's not working" and nine times out of ten it's the human element that's not doing it right. I bet if you list out the four (out of five) phones that don't work, you'll most likely get people on here that have got those phones to work. In my experience with Bluetooth, it's a hit-n-miss affair. If you don't do the pairing up sequence in the right order or enter the correct key, it falls over in a heap. This Samsung you're talking about buying is no more or less likely to pair up with a car than any other phone is. They're all following the Bluetooth spec and should work.

BMW resurected its Bluetooth site: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...hframedin.aspx
You now go in and give them the car info and provider (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile) and they will provide a list of tested phones.

I've had BT in my BMWs going way back to 2001 (740i) and was able to pair each and every phone I've had since the OLD DAYS! ... while each BMW had it's own unique method to pair, even the earliest was able to download my phone books. That has included, most recently, both WinMob and Android Smartphones.
That said, it is very very very (did I say very) important to follow the pairing instructions exactly as written ( for both car BT & Phone) AND be absolutely certain absolutely absolutely absolutely (did I say absolutely) that your cell phone FIRMWARE is up to date.
It's been my personal experience that most phone pairing issues are the result of the user not following the process to the letter ... for both car BT & Phone. But then again, it's been my personal experience - others may encounter a different experience.
