Maybe the all unlock feature is something that you have in Europe.? If so, I bet there is a setting in iDrive with the rest of the door lock settings (in the i menu).

US cars do not have this feature, at least not with the version of software I have (13.3) and based on the state of legal affairs over here, I doubt BMW will add such a feature to our cars...

OK, I understand. But I don't understand your reference to legal affairs; as I said, this feature is working ONLY when you switch off the engine, never when your engine is running. So, there is no danger at all of having people falling off from your car because you unlock the door.

When I turn off the ignition the interior lights are switched on and the drivers door unlocks.

Well in this great land of ours, you need to use your imagination to determine how risky something can be...if you can dream it up, someone will surely sue someone for it...

How about the following example? (I'm no lawyer but here goes...):

Judge: Mrs. Jones, can you please tell me exactly what happened?
Plaintiff: Well your honor, all I did was pull into the parking space, turn the car off, and put the keys into my purse. All of a sudden the defendant opened my door, stuck a gun to my head, took my purse and made me get into the trunk. He then proceeded to drive the car to my house and rob it. In the process of robbing my house, my husband grabbed his own gun and tried to shoot the defendant but in the struggle, the defendant shot and killed my husband..."
Judge: I see.
Plaintiff: If only my doors would have stayed locked -- I can't understand why BMW would have been so negligent in designing a car that unlocks all the doors simply by removing the key! I lost my husband because of this horrible car!! :'(
Judge: Will the representative from BMW NA take the stand please?...

It's easy to add more hardship -- she could be paralyzed due to her own injury, etc., etc. It would end up being BMW's fault in the good old USA!

It is all about Idrive setup!
However European version do automaticaly unlock when the key is taken out from the ignition. Of course the AUTOLOCK function has to be ON at the first place (idrive setup)

Basicaly as for Europe - Idrive setup:
Auto Lock after car moving: ON/OFF
-> if ON the car will automaticaly unlock after the key taken out from the igntion

also Idrive enables submenu to this where you can specify on which door to apply the above function

Don't want to highjack the post but I have witnessed two problems.

The trunk will not open with the key fob, it did work for 1 day. And yesterday with the radio muted, it decided I should listen will Will Smith (not the station I was on) and then turn off RDS. Thinking I bumped it....I did turn the radio off again and monitor and at about 1 minute later it did the exact same thing.

If it is set to automatically lock in iDrive, the doors will lock once you drive off and reach a set speed (like 10mph or so).

Welcome to the forums...
