the steering wheel is definetly on the wrong side for you guys.
I find this to be very true. The 3s really nickel and dime you when it comes to amenities.

so far its quicker, tighter, handles much better, sounds better (ever though its 4 cyl)
I actually agree with all you said, I think bimmers used to be a driver cars, not anymore, MB beats them in every department, including handling. I own a previous generation C-Klasse and it's been bullet proof for the last 8 years, except a known issue with AC vent motors, which I just ignore.
MB will last you a lifetime when bought new and properly maintained.

Before each BMW I've purchased, I've test driven Audi, MB, Lexus, Infiniti..

Going on my 4th BMW.

Really? What is the previous generation? My wife's mom has a 2005 (I think) C320 4Matic...not sure if that's a previous generation or now two generations ago though. It's relatively small but handles like a boat and is not that fun to drive. Maybe they're only good in manual? I would not even begin to compare that thing to a 3 series. Also, they have some of the most uncomfortable leather seats I've ever sat in. I've driven an E350 as well and it felt like a freakin battlecruiser.

My buddy has a pretty new E350 coupe and that thing seems not too bad. I don't know.. I am just not a big Mercedes fan. They don't do it for me.. with the exception of the S class (but you should have a driver when rolling in that). Then again I've never driven a C63 or E55 or anything.
