What do you mean with the clutch holding the car on a hill?

yes i like to know too.
He must be referring to the brakes holding the car for a couple of seconds while on an incline. I actually like the feature.

Like, I actually LOVE it. I now can't do without it. Infact I use less fuel because of the feature.

Hi Jeffs: The new car looks great. But, whoa partner--saying that "obviously" thing. As far as I know no 550i has improved on my results or on grogan545's results. Must I remind you : The fast guys play here. So, I say get a g-meter and show us how.
Well...I am comparing my 550i to my 545i and it felt faster. I might not get a sub 5 second on the g-meter because: 1) I doubt if i could launch the car like a drag racer off the line 2) no place here to safely to a quarter mile or even 0-60 without getting caught.

I do have a g-meter and plan to go to new england dragway soon....just to see how i fare

Well...yes that's what im talking about. Well....I am starting to get used to that feature, I just have to apply less gas when going uphill. However, I would still rather not have that feature but oh well....what can I do?

Congrats Jeff! But why didn't you go for the facelifted models?
well....2 reasons:
1) no money
2) I think it looks less sporty....

Thats what I was thinking...
I thought it was the most useful feature I have seen in a car for a long time.

A good idea but you would be spoil by it if you ever hope into a different car with stick shift.

I would rather do it the conventional way, using the hand brake and stuff...

congrats on the new ride - fine choice.

maybe you need to change your avatar too after blasting down the dragway... (ok - that's maybe pushing it a little )
