"Brand new" in what way? If the car's been sitting on a dealer lot somewhere and you just took delivery, then it's brand new to you but likely has older software. If you just took delivery after the car was built and shipped, then something's up.

Upgrading the software can be time consuming since it often fails the first time through. Unless you're really lucky, you'll most likely have to leave your car at the dealer overnight, at the very least.

Whatever you do, don't just ask to upgrade the software for the new features on the nav screen since they'll charge you labor. Find a bug that's been fixed (not hard to do by searching the forum) and complain about that. They'll fix the bug for free by upgrading the software...
