Doc,
As rudy pointed out the cobbles are not in USC. I was visiting my in-laws(in Lebo) for Christmas day & that's where I took the picture.
I knew those cobblestones looked familiar!

Looks good esmolol...

I didn't realize USC had cobblestone streets -- you sure you're not in Lebo?
Rudy, you are correct. That was Lebo - my in-laws. We are in USC near Bridgeville. Where in Pittsburgh do you live?

Yeah, where indeed? I've asked Rudy before.....never an answer.

Andrew....my bro lives in South Fayette. Ever eat at 'Burgh's in Bridgeville? Our next door neighbor owns it.

I don't think so...mine was lower than that, with half-inch bump-stops and chrome trim!
Doc,

Who did you have do your lowering on the old 530xi? Which springs did you install and did it change the quality of the ride much?

Thanks for all the advice....

You shouldn't have asked! Let's just say I had some "issues" with my lowering job that wasn't related to the place that installed them but more related to the drop itself.

From the factory, there is not much strut travel between the top of the struts and the bottom of the bump stops (those foam things at the top of the strut). I'd say there's only about 1/2" to begin with....so when you drop the car over an inch, you have to cut the stops by the same amount to preserve your strut travel & function. Well, mine weren't cut enough initially, and I was driving ON the bump stops, front and back, with caused the worst bumpy ride you can imagine. Once I got the problem solved, it was much better, but I endured at least 6 months with it like that. No one could figure out my problem of constant vibration and the need for multiple wheel alignments.....until they put their best mechanic on it and saw I had ZERO strut travel on both ends.

I ended up cutting them myself, and my ride quality was much improved....however the H&R sport springs used will cause a harsher ride compared to stock. If you like the ride now, don't lower it. I used a place in Moon called Auto Illusions....they did a good job and the price was right. I don't blame them for the bump stop issue, since they didn't really know by how much to cut the stops, and H&R did not provide any directions with the springs saying that it needed to be done.

Read about my problems here: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...ump+stops\

Let's just say that even though they just got a little further away, my closest dealer is still Rahal and leave it at that...
