Went in today and put down a small deposit on my new 550! Finally decided against keeping the old 545 as she is approaching four years old and besides, this is my chance to gets more of the bells and whistles I passed on the first go around. Went with Space Grey, LOVED the Carbon Black but had to be realistic about all the rain we get here and the upkeep. Space Grey looks great and will be easier to keep looking nice.

Did test drive a 550 with the Active Steering, just couldn't do it so I passed. Also thought hard about HUD but passed as well. The best part, and I'll confirm tomorrow, is that there is one exactly like my order already on the boat over and it is unspoken for so my dealer thinks he can swap out of his inventory to get it. Could be here in three weeks! Now I have to decide what to do with the 545. Needless to say I'm very excited, particularly with the Sports Package as my 545 does not have it. The waiting begins...

Sounds great! What color combo is the inside? I hope the one on the boat also has Comfort Access which I really like. Not sure if 04 e60 has blue tooth but that may be the most convenient item yet...congrats!

Yes, I too am looking forward to the bluetooth, which was not available on my '04. And yes, does have comfort access! I do like the idea of simply grabbing the handle to unlock the door, sitting down and hitting the start button with out ever taking the key out of my pocket...

Thanks Rudy! I really thought I'd hold on to the 545 for a while, but the more I thought about it, I really wanted Sports Package which I passed on because of the Active Steering. Besides, new toys are always fun to get. What I haven't decided is whether to write the check or lease.

You'll love the sport package and sport automatic. Re the HUD, I'd highly recommend it if you can change. I'm suprised how beneficial it is. You can see your speed and never move your eyes off the road. Also with nav instructions up there, you can turn off the annoying voice. I think its worth the money more than night vision, active cruise, and the other high dollar options.

After a year with it (a year in a 650i and a week in the 550i) I have to retrain myself to look down at a speedo in any other car.
