Drinkh20........I'm glad you liked Solstice..........I'm the owner! Small world huh. My 545 is always outback.
Rizbel.....Don Jaun posted on the subject awhile back, I used his pic's and instruction as a guide.
If he's listening maybe a repost is in order, or search this site. It was very helpful, and quite easy.

I have an older V1 hardware kit (ver. 1996) that doesn't have those blue connectors. Looks like they would be an integral part of this package. Wonder if V1 sells jus the hard wire kit.

jxtc-
Small world indeed! I just found out from my wife that we're heading to your fine establishment this Saturday with another couple (looking for a third couple so we can get a reservation). We just had our third child 3 months ago and it's our first time out to dinner since.

Re: an overheating E60 updating the white bars on the tach. IMSHO, this is a huge leap of computer logic and probably isn't there and until we prove that it is there, we shouldn't assume it. In other words, the only indication an E60 will give of an overheating engine would be the message in the dash and associated iDrive message. The primary place to look for this error condition would be in the dash or just say "Check Control Messages" to voice control and iDrive will show it. I totally doubt that the car overheating would change the tach guage, but maybe it would. I don't know how to force the condition to try it and if I did know, I wouldn't want to!! That would require a braver soul than me!

Thanks for the offer jtxc...I apologize for our "small world" digression...
More to the topic...I have a new Passport 8500 X50 and they offer, as an accessory, a direct wire kit. I'm assuming I could follow Don Juan's instructions for a similar install. I might start a new topic and see if anyone has attempted a hard wire with the Passport 8500 X50.
