I'm sure everyone is enjoying their big V8s with the nice warm weather lately. Here is a new trick of mine. Just don't try it at home.
Assume your ready to right turn onto a fairly busy four lane road (two lanes in each direction). Look for the approach of a nice performance ride in the outer lane. Make sure its going about 40 to 50 mph. As it approaches, make a slow and lazy entry in the nearest lane before the car passes you. The driver should be thinking he'll blow by given his speed advantage. As the E60 straightens out (with sport selected), nail your throttle all the way down and wait until the E60 attains the same or slightly greater speed. He'll be suprised as it happens in a blink of an eye. For extra impact, make a semi-dramatic but safe lane change in front of the other car. Nothing reckless just real sporty.
This method is a nice way to display the E60's acceleration and gives you a thrill as well. Did this to a relatively new A8 yesterday. Not racerboy stuff, just semi aggressive fun. I was probably under the speed limit too.
Even my wife thought this was fun.

hahaha. I do this everyday out of necessity. I have to enter a 4-lane freeway where everyone is doing about 70. I have to pull out slow due to loose gravel on the road, but then have to accelerate rapidly. I do get a kick out of not letting anyone catch up to me.

Same here amigo, but you do not always just need the V8, when you let the diesel eat the road that is also where the fun begins

Excellent. And to think that they laughed at me when I wrote a similar post on the Ford Pinto chatboard.

But, what happens at the next light if the car was, for example, one of these relatively modest performers--not to mention the real screamers? I make it a practice not to sort of embarass or annoy my "superiors."
