I've just taken delvery of a lovely 530d M Sport on Carbon Black with Leather and a reasonable amount of options. I've got a question which I was wondering if anyone can give me their views/comments.
Basically, the front lights have a setting known as Auto (turn knob left one click). A small green light goes on and then the lights go on outside. The idea is that these lights are suppose to automatically go on and off. I've found they always stay on even in bright sunlight. My dealer tells me its simply the sensitivity of the lamps. Another guy at the dealership says all 56 plate 530's are meant to have lights stay on.
Is this right ?. Are they suppose to turn off?.
On another note, I do about 33 miles each way from home to work and back again. about 5 of these miles is "town/village" type, the rest is motorway ( the dreaded m25) so I end up doing typically 40-50-60 and sometimes 70 mph. So far on its first tank of fuel I've got 31.6mpg.
Can anyone give me an idea of what they are getting.
Cheers

Thanks everyone. The pointers are coming in thick and fast. Its brilliant.
I'm going to try everything that is recommended. I've got the daylight savings option set now and lights go off during normal bright daylight and turn on when it gets dull/dark.
I've got Black Dakota Leather, M19" doubles, High Beam Assist, Media/Visibility/Service and Maintenance/Sun Protection/M Rear Spoiler/Comfort Seats/Maple Wood. so its a lot, but my we've just ordered another today for my bro who's the one who converted me from Mercs to BMW. His box is silver/grey, with all of my bits but its a 535d and HUD/Heat Seats/Auto Dim/Extend Lights and Hi Gloss.
On anther point, whats this I hear about re-mapping ?.
finally, having had delivery from new, is there anything that is advised to pre-protect the paintwork. The salesman tried to flog me Supaguard, but I didn't go for it; having found some google articles that said it wasn't worth it.
Cheers.

My Ride: E60 530d Sport - Carbon Black, Black Dakota Leather, Media Pack (satnav, bluetooth, CD changer), heated font seats, through load
Take your car to DMS. They will transform your car in to something that feels like a 535d, AND you will get better mileage.
The cost will be saved with better mileage in only a few years.
