Since your leasing every 2-3 years you'll hit the F10 sooner or later so going with the current e60 in September should be more economical in terms of getting a great deal in the long run. I like the current platform but wouldn't mind seeing a little more performance and economy out of the current drivetrain. Integrating the new iDrive wouldn't be bad either.

I read autospies, the magazines (esp. car and evo) and the message boards, such as our wonderful e60.net, and it is my clear recollection that the F10 5 series was initially thought to be a model year 2010 vehicle, which would go on sale here in Oct. 2009.
Well, the German manufacturers often launch their cars in September at the Frankfurt show, so there's certainly some logic to them hitting dealers in October, but that's only like circumstancial evidence

I wait till the last min. and then decide.
with the bad car market right now, it is wise that BMW delay the F10 until next year but I hope I will get to see the new design end of this year.

Thanks for all the response guys. I am holding out to lease end in October to see what happens. I do love my Platinmum Grey, just feel the grey interior is a bit boring after seeing how plush our new X5's interior looks. Might also go white with the Saddle Nevada, love the two tone brown(orange) and black.

I hate the thought of getting an 09 in October and the new one coming out the next year, but then again if I do a three year lease that will give BMW two years to get all the first run quirks fixed.

Either way I will be staying in the 5 family, and the greatness that is E60.net

I don't think they need to rush to get the F10 out but I do think they should spend extra amounts of time on
the design so that when they start leaking it out, it really "wow"s us. I think we'll be seeing design pics coming
this spring/summer.....

Also, I really hate the new 7. BMW, please, spend more time on the 5'er and make it sharp!

The F10 development timeline was fixed prior to the current economic crisis and will not be affected. They will be out in late 2010 as an '11 model year. I wouldn't hesitate to buy an 09 but I probably would not buy a 2010. I'm hanging on to my 2005 with it's extended warranty until the F10 is in it's second year and buy one then.
