Does anyone know if the newly upgraded N52B30 engine (265 hp / 315 Nm) will be offered to the E60?
It's +7 hp and +15 Nm compared the the current 530i engine offered in Europe.
This engine is now available in the new 130i (0-100 km/h in 6.1 sec.!).

I believe in previous threads we discussed the likelihood that these increases in power were simply due to louder (less restrictive) intake and exhaust components. Components not suited to the 5 series.

I don't understand. Why are they not suitable for the 5 series?? I love my car alot but the exhaust seems too quiet for me.....if only they would offer more rumble like let's say....and E55 AMG would. I know both are different cars but if they just put less restriction on the wirflow...wouldnt that be better??

The class of car the E60 belongs to in general isn't meant to be loud or aggressive. Naturally if you get into the AMG or M space, this changes things. Many of us (myself included) would not object to a louder car, but by and large I think my previous statement is accurate for the non-AMG or M cars.

I thought it was the same engine but the induction side of things was a little shorter and allowed better airflow... Not sure if it's a possibility on the 5...
"...less restrictive intake and exhaust components."
Thanks guys
But, but... the airflow can silenced, in my meaning, at least in the intake (engine compartment) and a small increase in exhaust sounds would be acceptable and maybe not even necessary with wider exhaust pipes.
I'm no professional engineer but something (data facts) is missing here

There is no difference in the 130i engine and that of the 530i
The extra 5Kw comes from a freeflowing exhaust sytem, but this also produces more noise, but the 130i is seen as a sporty car, so the noise is seen as good , the 530i is a executive car thus should mak noise
