My Ride: 2010 535i, Sports Package, Nav, Prem Sound
Hello to everybody, I just purchased a 2006 Certified 530i with sport, nav, and premium packages. It has 35k miles on it. I have a couple of questions for you e60 veterans.
How often do you have to replace the sports package tires? Did you switch to regular tires from the run flats?
Is the suspension supposed to be a little harsh? I noticed on smooth roads it drives smoothly, but when it gets a little bumpy, you feel it.
Also how much does the regular servicing cost? The dealer was trying to convince me to buy the extended free maintenance for $2000 claiming that regular servicing costs an arm and a leg.
And also, what should I look out for with this car? What goes bad? I have the regular warranty for another 1 year and then 2 more years extended (total 3 years).
Thanks for any help.

yes to the suspension being harsh and that being normal (harsher the better for me) no to the service plan, you only service this car every 15-20000 miles and its not gonna cost you 2000 in total, cant speak for the tires I have ultra high performance and watch out for the idrive if it hasnt been updated. it will give you all kinds of computer related hassles other than that the car is pretty solidly built.

Thanks for the quick reply.
So you have aftermarket non runflat tires? I've heard so many bad things about the run flats, so I'm wondering if I should replace them with regular tires. The dealer was claiming that each service costs like $1200.

Hi amit1947 and welcome to the forum and congrats for your fine new ride.
I try to answer your Q's.
Yes, as first thing go for non RF tires! Most bad things comes with the RF's:
the hardness of the ride, tire noice and possible tramlining.
Sorry but I don't know the service pricing in your country.
At least over here they are not that expensive.
At 35 k miles the next thing your have to replace are the front brake pads
but you should also serve the car.
New engine oil + filter and new fresh air filters
and maybe a Progman CIP update.
You could give more details about your whereabouts and the car,
it helps the experts on this fine forum.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome.
The suspension on the sports package is very firm but not overly harsh. But if you are coming into it from a softer suspension, it could be an adjustment because it certainly does not offer a Lexus-like, pillowy, mushy, numb ride.

What non run flat tires do you recommend (18 inch)? I'm coming from an Accord so its a little more firm, but the handling is incredible on the bmw.

I think some of those service items were already done, I will look at the service history and post it on here.
