I just purchased an 04 545I with smg. I love the vehicle.

It has 40K on it now. I was interested in purchasing the extended maintainance..and wanted to also buy an extended waranty. I know BMW wont do it, but the dealers all have different warranties (aftermarket ones)... any idea on which one is better if any? I have the nav, heads up etc. One hendrick dealer told me that their hendrick autoguard which runs 3600 covers all the electronics, etc. Also

Please help..

Congrats!

I would read the extended warranty REALLY carefully see waht they really cover and waht they dont cover. Much of the probles on these cars are in the software and I dont think extedned warranty doesnt cover that one bit.

I thought my dealer offered an exteded warranty "from BMW" I'll have to double cehck that... and the Service Advisor said it covers exactlly the same thing as the existing warranty. But I dont belive him. I was going to look into it later when time gets closer...

Shop around...

And welcome aboard! congrats on the purchase... SMG is awesome!

Always ask for what will not be covered rather than ask for what will be covered.

Congrats on your new car! I am still about a year from needing it, but I've also started looking at extended warranties. I have basically seen 2 types - both have varied plans concerning coverage on components, but one type also covers maintenance like we have now (oil changes, brake pads/rotors, windshield wipers, etc.) and the other type does not.

Unfortunately, so far neither type covers the advanced electronics such as HUD, active cruise, navigation/i-Drive, etc., but I'm still looking.

I found one that is by the Hendrick Automotive Group sold at the Hendrick dealerships, which covers all the electronics. Supposedly. I Have just spoken to the gentlemen in Charlotte, NC. I am going to look into it furthur, because my main concern is the electronic goodies.

I myself have the HUD, Navi, I drive, etc..

Great news birjup! Keep us posted on the details of what you find. Please include pricing when you get it.

I wonder if Hendrick would give a better deal if there were several purchased at the same time?
