My Ride: BMW 525i e60 (private) M-style,, Carbon Black, HUD, MM Interface.
And a BMW 325 e90 (Business),
Here the pica's of last nights and this evenings mods. I was feeling creative
First a quick and simple one:
As I hate the ipod running through the glove compartment ( a simple sleeve and hot-glue did the trick):
And then up to the more labor intensive stuff.
From ashtray holder to ipod dock:
The rough material:
Some cutting out done:
Now here the apple universal dock fits exactly. I had to hot-glue it into place as
I did not have double sticking tape. (both are easy to remove anyway).
In the car with ashtray closed:
And open:
Front look:
And from the side:
I still need to construct a face plate to cover most of the white stuff. I left the dock low enough to
allow a cover to be inserted without the need to alter the current construction. Nor sure yet if it will
be alu, carbon, plastic or leather).
This now plays the ipod movies on the nav screen via the modmynav MM interface.

Wouzerz... Nice going! Doesn't the ipod fall out of the socket when cornering?
Looks great!!
I went to the drift and slide meet today Did some nice powerslides on the wet track... That was awesome
There were a couple of people taking pics and filming... I'm leaving for Spain in the morning, and will try to upload from the poolside. If not, well...I'll be back in two weeks

Not when I corner slowly.
This setup is for watching video's though, so I will not be driving that much with the iPod in. For music I have the other one in the glove compartment.
It is not drift proof.. that is what I know
Have a good holiday.
Ar.

In general it was working on the '06 software as well. for the iPod interface,
you need to have your car with either a CD Changer, or have it coded for a CD changer.
(OEM, but I think this would also apply for the Dension solutions-- audio)
For the MM interface, this one is transparent to the car, and only using the LCD for output.
Operation of the equipment with the MM interface I have from modmynav is not via the iDrive
menu, whereas the OEM iPod interface let you control the iPod via the iDrive.

Nope.. I just wanted it to try to speed up the iDrive responsiveness with large playlists.

I do have a cd changer on my 06' car. So what do you think I would need to get an ipod working?
