My Ride: no work done yet, just go the car a week ago but looking to do some work soon
Thumbs up

right when i was pulling into my drive way today, the oil warning light came on and i said oil at a minimum add 1 quart. However i was at the dealer on Tuesday and they said i dont need an oil change, that its not due till 10K miles. If thats so how come i have such low oil? where could it have went... another thing is should i go back to the dealer and have them look at it or should i just aadd oil... car is still uner warranty

Adding a quart or two of oil between recommended annual oil changes is very common. Your car should briefly display the mileage until the next REQUIRED oil change after each crank, but this is completely independent of your oil level. Depending upon your dealer, topoffs may be free. Just give them a call and find out if they will add a quart at no charge. Otherwise, you may have to fork up a little cash.

if you have a bottle of oil in your trunk, add it to the engine. Nothing to worry about.

If I'm not mistaken, I think the oil from the BMW dealer is ~ the same price as say Mobil 1. Is that's the case I would get it from the dealer.

The "missing" oil gets burned off, but only a very small amount unless you have a major engine problem. Any good synthetic like Mobil 1 or BMW is good -- I keep one in the garage in case I need a small top up. I use Mobil 1 because it's easier to find than making a trip to the dealer.
