Need quick answer please......

My 2005 545i is at the dealer for general service. Is it possible to have them program the headlights to always be on when the car is on....like a Saab or Volvo? I am a firm believer that driving with lights on day or night is safest. Should be a simple thing for them to do right. What I would like is to be able to leave the light switch on - turn the car off and everything goes off.
Thanks!
Vince

Yes, it is possible.
If they will do it? I do not know.

yes you can. The inside lights, the ones closer to the center of the car, will always be on when the car is running.

If you want the actual headlights to come on with the key, I'm not so sure they can program that. If you want the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) to come on, that can be done easily.
Depending on the year of your car, the DRLs are either the inner lamps or the angel eye lamps.

Hi Vince,
hmmm, a 2005 car?
You are able to program this in the i-drive already, its called "daytime running light" - it's programable until software V25 or higher. You can turn the light switch to "a" and everytime you are starting the car the lights (all, front and rear incl. Xenon or Haogen) will come up. You don't have to switch it off again - this will automaticly happen when you turn the key to "no ignition".
Hope that helps...

In the US you might not have been able to turn off or on, daytime running lights until the 2008 model.
But I thought the software is equal to european spec
