Just picked up my first BMW today, a 520d LCI Platin grau, black dakota. Instead of driving it, I of course first made pictures for you guys

Noteworthy: the car is registered in Belgium. I'll skip further details.

normal lights: beams plus dim center bulb (picture 1)
+ brakes on: both bulbs behind the beams are lit (picture 2)
+ fog light: center bulb lit brightly (picture 3)
Congrats and enjoy!

At what position is your lights switch when you say normal? also, do you have DRL enabled? because I see it's daylight there

Position of the light switch: either first or second position (starting vertical), both result in picture 1.

DRL is not enabled. At least, AFAIK. After all, I've only owned the car for nine hours now

PERFECT just what we needed. That means that in Belgium the BFD is not active, which is why both the lights behind the LEDs light up. What I can't understand is how did the circle light go off when the brakes are pressed, it was on before on tail light setting.

Anyone from any other location where the BFD and or Fog lights are not present (US).

Thanks, but it could be anabled by default (according to EU laws) Could you check your car settings?

I start thinking that something has to do with the LCM and the light sensor on windshield on LCIs Double brake lights?? Round lights off when braking??
Please, we need a night shot as well

This one below is an LCI and it looks different, all 3 lamps are lit, but it is into the garage (low light conditions)

You know what, I didn't even notice that in real life or on the pictures I took
I just checked (alone, so not checking the brake lights) and I could not get the center light to turn of. Weird.

If you did this alone how did you take the 2nd photo?

I don't know how to check the car settings - anyone?

I do find it weird as well that the center bulb turns off. BTW, braking soft or braking (very) hard did not change the number of lights on. I'll do another check tomorrow with s.o. in the car

I do like it that only the rods are lit with regular lights on. It looks very nice

Break, jump out the car, and make a picture before the pedal was up again

No, my wife was in the car
