NEED HELP FOR DIY... aux cable install on 2006 530i
hey guys i just made an account on here because i figured this is my last option before i go spend my left leg at the dealership to get an aux input installed in my car...
so i really want to listen to pandora and i dont have any other option, dont tell me to get an fm transmitter because i dont like the sound quality in those..
now i would be very greatful if someone would tell me how to install the aux cable and something about programing...
what is this about the programing that im hearing that i need for the idrive?
some shop told me once you connect the wire it will automaticly appear on the idrive but i highly doubt it,
please help

You have to alter the DNA of your car by re-programming ... the additional input source will not simply automagically show up since it wasn't born w/ it ... You add option to your VO=Vehicle Order and by re-coding/re-processing the car you kinda let the computer modules know you have something new after that you have to edit proper module so the AUX show as an additional input source.
Not to rain on your parade ... it'll not be as simple as adding FM transmitter ... a bit more involve than just a simple plug-in & hook up.
