Last week I woke up to a dead battery in my 05 545i. Took it to the shop (non-dealer, but BMW "specialist"), and they diagnosed a bad alternator. Picked it up 2 days later and it was fine, till the next morning....dead battery. At this time I realized the car does not sleep. Took it back to the shop and they found a burnt MPM. Got approval from the warranty company to replace battery and MPM. Today when I called to see if it would be ready when promised, the SA told me they ran into some issues:

Basically, they are still getting "electronic system malfunction" and a few other errors. Now the kicker: the speedometer goes crazy (jumping) when they test drive it. They are dumb-founded with the issue, and I need help!!! Been a week without this car, and it is my wifes only mode of transportation.

 

Sounds like some of the craziness that happens when a battery is replaced but the electrical system is not recalibrated. I would get a jump, get that thing running and hit the dealership for some programming/registration of the new battery...

 

a suggestion...a better subject line on your message would probably get more responses. Instead of "Need help ASAP"....maybe something like "electronic system malfunction error causing speedometer issues".
