'Ello all!

In the beginning of next month I am goin to college and I gotta take my car (Dad wont let me buy a beater) to college. I have to park it in the freshman lot (doesn't help), the college isn't in the best of places (doesn't help), plus my car isnt the best at staying incognito (SUPER HELP....). So I want to get every REALISTIC theft deterrent devices and ways to protect my car. So far I have only 1 set of wheel locks on my car and would like to get atleast 3-4 more sets. That is all I can think of tbh. Help me keep my car protected!

So far I have:
BMW Assist
1 Set of Wheel Locks

You can always do what I did, get LoJack installed and GPS tracker - I can find my car any time, anywhere, with those 2 things the best outcome for a thief would be that the cops find him (LoJack) before I do (GPS)

Don't overstress it buddy. You will be fine. Just don't leave your ipod and/or gps and/or radar-detector in the car. Actually, keep the car untidy if you can live with it. It also helps to return to stocks (esp wheels etc.)

No one can really steal your entire car from a parking lot and sell it. They can aim for small things though.

If you can, reduce your insurance deductable and get bumper insurance. College kids like bumper kisses while parking.

Find out where the campus security hangs out/sleep on the job, and park near them. Also try to park under a light and near a high traffic area, like a sidewalk. The only problems we've had at my school were a couple tagging incidents (such bullshit if I may say) and a couple break ins. All of the break ins were because of visible ipods/gps units. Just be smart and you'll be fine.

@pjinca ,

What brand/model GPS tracker do you use? I was looking into getting one myself.

Get a nice 2 way alarm, the ones with the LCD screens that tell you what sensors around the car are triggered...may as well get it with a remote start for those cold Pittsburg mornings.

Clifford is a solid way to go, shock sensors can go along ways on headlights, wheelwells..

You can go with proximity sensors, but anyone annoyed by them are most likely to tag the car just out of annoyance-but you can set the sensitivity now via remote on some of the lines. You lose alot of sleep hearing your warning chirps over minute things as well, but any protection is better than waking up in the morning to surprises.

I had this installed a while back:
[link removed at site owner's request]

It uses GSM networks and can track my car within a few feet every 5 secs
