Yes, I looked into that and for BMW to do the swap is about $1000 US and they'd take out the CD changer (that I paid $1800 for as part of premium sound). So I looked on the forums and found the exact I-Pod component BMW uses for 300 bucks, and all the instructions to do it (easy!) but BMW would still charge me 600 bucks to do the i-Drive upgrade so I gave up. I'm getting Sat Radio - and BTW the Sat Radio installation was 800 bucks @ BMW, so I'm buying the 140 dollar Best Buy unit and just plugging it in to the lighter.

I've got a question for you. I've got a 525d Touring 2005, which has navigation business. I would like to upgrade this to a professional system, so that I can listen to CD's at the same time when using the Navigation system.

Can I just change these units out without any problem (plug&play) or does it involve re-wiring?

Hope someone can help me out with this..

Thanks!
Could any of the Danish members that might have done this upgrade, business to Professional, tell me what this will cost in DK. I'm also trying to get a quote from Germany (Flensburg).
I found a company in Holland that will do it for 1950 Euro's. I find that quite expensive..

Cheers!!

It's possible to do this all with 2nd hand parts, although you need to know what you're looking for and be willing to wait for good deals. You also need a good garage to handle the coding as it's not as easy to code as it would be with brand new parts. I paid:

CCC - £250 new old stock from BMW parts specialist
idrive controller - £70 from eBay
8.8" screen - £120 from eBay

The trim piece and fan cable came new from BMW... I forget how much I paid. A friend and I did the physical install in about an hour (with tea breaks). The coding took a lot longer and cost about £250 (my car is a 2003. I think newer cars are a lot less temperamental so may be easier to code).

I've been searching online for ages to work this out...

I've got an 2006 530d with Business Nav...have found a CCC system on ebay comprising 8.8in screen, DVD/CD drives and computer for GBP460.

Do I also need to update the controller/console button?

Is there anything else I need to change?

Anyone's input would be of great assistance.
