I searched the forum for the "SOS Call System Malfunction" sign, but couldn't really find someone with my same exact problem. Please help if you can.
I have a 2006 530i. Recently while I was driving it the navigation system completely shut off and now I'm getting a SOS Call System Malfunction sign. The iDrive doesn't work, nothing shows on the screen, when I start my car in the morning it tells me there is a large battery drain, and my CD changer seems to check the CDs every time I turn on my car.
My car is out of warranty, so I took it into a independent shop and he told me to buy another navigation head unit. I read a lot about TCU and MOST on the forum, so I just wanted to check with the knowledgeable people here on what they think.

Yeah, I checked the spare tire well and left side for the TCU and didn't find any damage. I tried unplugging and plugging everything back in, along with detaching and battery. Also, checked all the fuses.

your battery could be dying. Mine did this just two days ago, it is the battery . in my case the CCC put the nav system in transport mode. The shop had to go in and take it out of transport mode and it all worked just fine.
In transport mode the system does not turn on at all. I was panicked but the dealer was calm.....look at the battery

Mine have me the SOS error as well. CCC looked and acted dead, even after fuses and relays were pulled and checked. The fix was easy and did not incurr a replacement at all, just software to take out of transport mode.
All CCC relays/ devices run in parallel and any errors cause a slew of errors.
