[font=Century Gothic]Hey Peoples! I just bought a New (to me) 2004 545i and I am LOVIN it!! It is my first BMW. The only feature I DIDNT have on it was the navigation system. I thought that I could go to BMW and have it installed because it looked as if everything was pretty much set up for it but alas I was WRONG!!! I called 2 different dealers and the said NO I cant do it. Has anyone done this or can anyone recommend what to do or an after market system that I should have installed?! Thanks for the help!

GArmin, or Tom Tom is better than VDO for e60, but if you stick to that go else, it can be retrofited but you need cables, drill through the roof for the antenna etc. search there was a retrofit I guess it is my 530i...good luck, I also skipped it and never regret that!

It's nice to have NAV system, but it's not worth it to spend over 2k to have it install in your e60 now.

NAV on e60 is the worst NAV I ever used. I rented a car and borrowed a friend's Sony NAV for a trip to San Francisco last weekend, I have to say, it's much easier to use the Sony NAV than mine. I can easily search for location name on the touch screen.

The only drawback was the power cable hanging on the dash board, and reception was not so good around tall buildings.

What year is your car? Have you check your window sticker if you have option 6UA (Nav prep)?
If you have it, you can buy this: 65-90-0-390-844
Another option is buying the retrofit kit on eBay, or buy piece-meal (8.8" monitor and CCC unit). You can reuse LVDS cable, but it needs a minor modification.

Good luck
