Or you can get one from you're loaner BMW during service (only works when you ask for a new car offcourse) and copy that one at home....which I've never done offcourse

Which software do you use to clone it ??
It's no use to buy the new DVD each year. There are not so much changes that you may think ! Every 2 or 3 years is good !

Mine works perfectly. And it a clone.

Yesterday I asked to BMW if they were willing to pay for the upgrade of the navigation system maps (my maps are release 2005-1 and the latest available are 2006-1). The answer was: no way, it's at your cost.
So, this morning I went to the dealer and I bought the latest Navteq DVD: total cost 348,00 euros, tax included
Well boys, now I have a redundant set of 2005-1 Navteq maps (full Europe): anybody interested? I don't want any money, just cover the freight cost.
Cheers

Well, after you solved the problem, BetterMakeWay will make a copy and they bring it to me, also letting me drive his 535d for a while...

No problem. Exchange the experience. Petrol engines will always have a place in my heart.

Rather than pay ?230 for a DVD update I went on e-Bay. Result
1) a genuine 2005-1 disc for 20 euros, works a treat
2) a 2005-2 disc from Italy for 35 euros which was a clone but got my money back
Pleased with my 20 euro investment. No way will I pay the rip-off price

I have cloned my 2006-01 Europe DVD with DVD Decrypter. It is exact copy and works without problems.
