I upgraded to CIP 18.1 three weeks ago and everything has been running fine.
Yesterday, all of a sudden, the Navigation began showing me driving backwards !! I.e, the map would move up giving the impression I was in reverse. After further inspection, the arrow that indicates North was actually pointing due East! Everthing is out of wack!
I still have the problem and have scheduled service for next week but thought I would post to see if anyone else has seen this problem. I did a ctrl-alt-del on IDrive but to no avail.
Weird.
Anyone else seen this? Pretty disappointing that Nav would go wacky so quickly...
I drive a 2004 530i with head-up, nav, bluetooth.

I assume this keeps happening even after you restarted/rebooted the car so you might want to try disconnecting the battery for a short time then reconnecting it. Once that's done, it may take up to 15 minutes for the Nav system to resume operation but it might force something to reset and begin working properly again.
If that doesn't work, something in hardware is probably failing...

I had a similar problem with a previous car and a retrofit navigation system. It ended when I occasionally parked the car in an underground garage for a couple of hours (it apparently did som resetting when the satellite signals were lost). Not sure if it works here, but it might be worth a try!

Mine was acting whacky with directional issues after I had been in a parking ramp for three hours. I pulled over, shut the car down and restarted car thus rebooting navigation and it worked flawlessly the balance of the day.

Are you sure? I thought that AS would survive a battery disconnect without the need for any dealer re-calibration.
I think AS is designed to self-correct itself under normal circumstances. For example, if the steering wheel is moved with the engine not running, the system will reset itself once the car is running and the wheel is turned again.
I think the only time the dealer needs to recalibrate is if work was done on the steering system...
