navigation broken any ideas?
Hi everyone and happy new year.
I am not good at electronics so I have aquestion for those who do know about it.
My 2004 525I has a problem with thenavigation
The navigation has never worked properlybut I have decided now to see if I can repair it
It is as if the GPS is not working
The display shows me some where in the middle of the ocean
When I put in a destination that I want to travel to. It sayssorry that it cannot find my position.
Any help, advice, thoughts and how torepair it would be fantastic

Try to reset it first, three finger salute. Press volume button and the two eject buttons simultaneously. Perhaps it helps.
Secondly, if the GPS signal is lost, perhaps the GPS antenna cable is broken.

Try going into navigation where you can input your latitude and longitude and see if the unit then can find itself. Sometimes if a unit is moved 500-600 or less miles with no power, when it is next powered up, it has no idea where it is without giving it some reference help.

I really hope this was not your issue. I think everyone assumed you know what disc was in the unit. That definitely makes a difference.
Anyway, if perhaps the disc is not your issue and you want to reprogram. You would either need to take it to the dealer or use BMW tools(NCS, Winkfp) to either get the unit back to factory or update. You can download BMW tools from the internet. Check on BMWcoding.com, someone there might have a good link. You will need the cables. Be warned though that the CCC has 5 modules that would have to be updated and it will take hours if you don't have an optical connection. If you have never done this before then go to bmwcoding and do some reading before you start messing around with coding.
