Hi Guys,

I have a 2005 545ia and have noticed that the Navigation screen does not seem to automatically change brightness based on night or day. Is there not a sensor that does this automatically? I noticed in the idrive menus that there is an adjustment for brightness but it only has a dim to bright scrolling option that seems to be the same brightness regardless of day.

Any ideas or other way to adjust settings?

Thanks in advance!

I have the same car...I notice a slight change in brightness when the lights come on but its not much different . It doesn't seem to have a separate sensor.

The iDrive gives you settings for brightness (at least the LCI does).

Yes, I did see the setting for brightness but it seems it is only 1 setting for both day and night. On the navigation system of our 2004 Acura MDX, there was a noticeable difference once you turned the lights on. Seems not to be the case on this system.

it does change, but it is subtle. there is a small light sensor at the bottom of the screen. due to its recessed position, it rarely gets full brightness.

Did you try spinning the little wheel next to your headlight switch, you know the one that controls the brightness of the speedo, etc....

I'm going to have to play around with a torch/flashlight regarding that sensor...I was sure it was headlamp related!

it's a little shiny circle at the bottom of the screen. i think it's at the center but don't remember without actually looking at it.
