Just because he has the documents doesn't mean he's the owner. And most places I've been, if the registration/insurance isn't in the car, that's an automatic ticket. In Washington state, you MUST have them in the car.
I'm a little lost: if a car is parked, you are not in the car and you have the registration in your wallet but not in the car, you could get a ticket? I can't see how that could even be checked.
Many security experts recommend what I have stated here. For one example, see item 5 here

Still can't figure out, with all the software updates we've seen over the years, why BMW hasn't added a PIN code to the home address entry... ![Nono](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/nono.gif)

PS - how do you edit the names of stored addresses? I have them all showing as just the town name which is a bit sucky, I couldn't work out how to edit the names. And my manual is in a different room, which would involve getting up and walking so that's out of the question, before you go tell me to read it.

I think you select the address in the address book and push the iDrive controller in and you should see an "edit" option.

No it doesn't convey ownership. But it does lower any suspicion level.

As for the home address, there's usually enough clutter in the car (mail, business cards etc.) that a determined thieve can figure out where you live, even if it's not in the Navi. BTW, keys are always in my pocket, NEVER left in the car. Although, if you programmed the garage door opener, that is as good as a key if someone has access to the car and can switch on the ignition.
