How can I display the map and the current car position without having any planned route entered? I just want the navigation to show the road ahead and any junctions/roundabouts etc.

Can this be done?

Thanks for your input.

Just display the map. In tha Nav Menu, at the bottom, choose "Map facing North", "Map in Direction of Travel" or "Perspective.

If you want to cancel a planned route, use the icons on the left and click on the one which has a dot and arrow. IIRC it's the second one down from the top.

Thanks ABC. I will try it. I knew it would be as easy as ABC (Just kidding).

I don't know if it is just me, but I find the navigation not to be very user friendly and lacking features. Anyone share that view? You would expect for what it costs for it to be a lot better. A lot of the hands free versions (TomTom) are much better.

Agreed, it could be better. One wonders why BMW doesn't just license the Garmin (or other) system. Garmin just updated the firmware on my Streepilot 2820, so now it will announce that there might be traffic problems ahead, even if I'm just heading in the direction of the problem, but not under guidance.

That would start a trend among car manufacturers. Wouldn't want to do that now would we?

Rest Areas are standard POIs on the Europe DVD. And much easier to search with Progman 25.
