Is there another way to find out if you have 6UA installed?? Does the 2005's come with 6UA already?? It seems there is still conflicting information about NAV and it being retrofited into E60's.

6UA is no longer an option on MY2005, which means it cannot be retrofit. I tried to get it done at my local dealer. They actually thought it could be done, but when they coudn't find pre-wiring to the CCC, they filed a PUMA case and confirmed that it could not be done on my 2005 525 (9/04 build)

The final work order stated: Customer requests nav installed. Unable to install CCC-Navigation due to no option 6UA (pre-wiring for CCC) installed. Refer to bulletin 84 10 04.

Irritating thing was that I called BMWNA: they said it could be done and to call my local dealer. Called my local dealer: they said it could be done, so they ripped apart my car only to find out they couldnt do it!

They were going to charge me $1935 for parts and about 4 hours labor @ $150/hour-but they couldn't perform it anyway.

Hi:

Sorry to hear about the BMWNA and your local BMW dealer mix up! Just curious did BMW North America try to get you pay the $1935.00 to your BMW dealer for the work that could not be finished properly? I hope not!

The best solution is to get a Treo 650, a bluetooth GPS module and the upcoming TomTom Navigator 5.0 software. Get a Proclip Treo dash holder. Now you can use one device for phone communication and navigation, and it's portable from car to car. (As soon as TomTom releases Nav 5.0 this is the setup I will have.)

Can you report back as to how the treo 650, tom tom, and bmw work together. I would be interested to hear if you can effectively switch between bluetooth phone via the bmw and then gps. This is a very slick setup. Also can you let us know which model of GPS you purchased.

Thanks

I will. I could buy the equipment today, but only Navigator v4.0 is out, and I hear there are tons of improvements in Navigator v5.0, so I'll wait until that is out (which should be soon). One thing to make sure is not to get TomTom's GPS module, as it is only SiRF II; newer modules have SiRF III (i.e. a far superior GPS chipset). A good place to read up on this is the Treo forums at http://treocentral.com.
