First off, the workshop in question and it's owner is quite trustworthy, he's been around for awhile and services high end cars like amg's, porsche, etc.
However I'd still want some general opinions for hopefully some peace of mind.
So the car has hood, front and back bumper dismounted to be painted, and is normally in the workshop, but In the daytime it's outside cause he works on other cars in the meanwhile. These two days it's raining like crazy and my precious v8 is outside exposed to the heavy rain!
As I brought this up with him I was told that there's absolutely nothing to worry about and everything in the motor is not affected by the rain. Im kind of skeptical about this though, not to mention it's simply getting dirty!
Should I be worried or am I paranoid?

it shouldnt matter. The spark plugs with the ignition coils in there are water proof tight. HOWEVER, anything can happen after years of use. Plus it's not pleasant to clean the engine after the rain water is there. He should give u an engine bay detail afterwards

i'd be kinda pissed. while the water wont really effect the engine, that water will accelerate corrosion on most exposed metal surfaces, and possibly wiring. and water all over the alternator is not good for it.

above all else....when you service high-end cars....you service high end customers....who are a bit more discerning. this shop should know better. at a minimum, they should have covered the car with a waterproof (plastic tarp) if they were going to put it out in the rain. i would demand an engine bay detail and to have the car covered moving forward...

Seems a strange response from shop and an odd thing to do but when I think about it, my car has survived quite well after all the puddles I've ploughed thru, all the rain storms and snow that have ended up in the engine bay and lets not forget the engine detailings that often involve pressure washers(not recommended BTW). In order to detail it he'll probably wash it.
Stupid on his part but I wouldn't worry about it. I have rain spatter and mud marks around my wheel wells and on the hood insulation.
