Does anybody know if there is any particular feature in the 550i V8 to address the water pipe seal degradation problem?

I understand that the improved engine cooling should alleviate the problem somewhat. Anybody aware of something else besides that?

Any 550i owners who may have experienced the transfer cooling pipe seal issue? At what mileage?

And the out-the-door cost (preferably with a breakdown) associated with the fix?

I have 63k miles now and so far I haven't had any engine/coolant related problems yet.
Leak Diagnosis Pump (also called DMTL pump) was replaced at around 47k.

07 550

1. Changed Valve Gasket Covers ($700)
2. Changed Timing Chain Covers (Did it because I was already doing valve covers) ($150)
3. Changed Belt Tension er ($100)
4. Installed a new transmission pan and replaced the Transmission Fluid ($250)
5. Cracked bushing in front lower control arm. Changed the whole front end. ($950)
6. New strut mounts ($200)
7. ST Coilovers ($1200)
8. Rebuild Vacuum Pump ($120)

All this was done @ 60k. I had a horrible engine leak. My valve covers were in pretty bad shape. The Timing chain covers were starting to go bad as well. Glad I changed those while my mechanic was pretty much there. I didn't need the whole front end for my car. I just got a real good deal on the whole Meyle HD kit for my car, and figured what the heck and did it anyway. My bearings on my mounts were bad so I changed them after I had my coils installed. Everything That I have listed has been done in the past 30 days. it has cost me a lot more than I was planning on spending in a month.
