N62 Engine Covers - To paint or not to paint?

Max temp for the 3m vinyl from what I can find is 225. I know our cars (at least mine) is in upper 190 to low 200. with all of that heat building up, I don't know if I would trust the vinyl to stay

Sometime you guys jus gotta keep it simple. Wash the covers thoroughly, mask off,prime and high temp coat however many makes you happy and let dry. This aint a hard one my covers are holding up fine.

My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.

I would not use primer unless its a special primer made for this material. The primer you get at a parts store will most likely be for metal. Big difference. If you decide to take the lower cost options the you can also get a can of spray adhesion promoter at most places. After cleaning well, you simply spray this on and it looks a like like clear. Then when dried come back with your paint. This option will give you the best adhesion for the price.

hey guys im new here and new to owning an E60 and im not a fan of the engine cover color and wanted to paint mine too, but i was curious if you guys had enough room to paint it while still on the engine or did you guys take it out?
