My car is at the dealer for a check-up.

I asked if my car was included in the N54 fuel pump recall and the service advisor said "there are no recalls currently affecting your car".
I want to make sure I get the new pump if I need it. Is there any way to determine if my car is supposed to get the new pump?

Call BMWNA. They can run the VIN and tell you for sure...

I called today and they confirmed that my car is not involved in the recall and I don't need a new HPFP. I'm hoping that's a good thing.

Did they tell you that it did need a software reprogram? I have been reading others experience and it appears that most if not all of the 535's from 2008 are at least getting the software update and if there is a failure after the update then HPFP, Injectors etc will be replaced.

I hope that's not true. I just had the reprogramming done a couple of weeks ago. Hope my HPFP doesn't go south now.

No software update performed. I believe it was done last year when I had some fuel injectors replaced.
I thought that was the HPFP but apparently not. No issues since.

They reprogrammed my 535XIT in November and the fuel pump failed Feb 2011. The car has 30,000 on it and I have used only Shell & BP gas. The service manger also said the the waste gates of the turbo's were not right and being adjusted.

Has anyone had the new replacement fuel pump fail?

Do you think that BMW has finally found a fix?
