N54 Alternator woes
Need some tips or advice guys. Alternator finally showed up. Ive already done this job with a Ultima orieileys one before and had no issues getting it in. This time I got a Bosch one and have the OFH and intake manifold off and out of the way, old one out, but for some reason even though the mounting points are the same as the old one, and size is same, this mfer wouldn't go in so I got a little violent with the mallet and scared my new neighbors who are moving in. Now ive got it in to where it seems all the holes are lined up but for some reason the bolts don't even start. im assuming because the angle is wrong but its in the mounting spot I just cant any bolts to start. I have no idea how to fix it or what to do. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

So it's lined up if you're having trouble bolting it. Something must be wrong with the size of the alternator. I would of put a grinder on it

what part of it? I finally got it seated. Stuck my phone down in there for a video. Top holes seem perfectly lined up. Bottom a hair off but plenty of space for those skinny ass bolts to go all the way through. Bottom back one catches and gets hard to turn instantly. Ran it down and back it back out. Didn’t see any ruined threads etc

Hit it down a tad more. I always use a rubber mallet to put those on and they beat down right in place. You're working with manual tools or impacts

I used a mallet ALOT to get into place. Won’t go anywhere now. Not even back out lol. I’d have to hammer it back out pretty much. I’m using mostly my cordless impact. I just don’t see why the bolts won’t start if it looks perfectly lined up. Like I can see all the way through all 4 holes. Doesn’t look like anything to stop those skinny ass bolts. I’ll go back to it tomorrow after work see what I can do

I personally would pull it back out again and see if the bolts go in okay without it in there to make sure the threads are okay in the holes.
