I thought this was worth bringing out into a thread of its own just in case it proves to be a the "eyebrow" issue of Progman 23.

You should never reach a 'dead' car. I've done this once and came back to a car where all electricals where shut down and the battery had only enough power for a single successful start. However I do take your point its scary to know that things turn on by themselves!
