Come on.. tramlining shouldn't be surprising considering the fact that the majority in here are running on 275mm rear tyres.. 275mm is WIDE. On a normally worn road this setup will almost always lead to a certain degree of tramlining.

The difference in tramlining between our 124 summer wheels and our 225mm studded winter tyres is tremendeous. The tramlining virtually disappears and comfort dramatically increases on uneven surfaces.

Another dealer tire pressure experience to share -- recently had four tires and wheels replaced in an emergency situation by an excellent dealership in Pensacoa, FL. The first two wheels and tires were ordered for overnight shipment. When they arrived, knowing the dealer penchant for airing to something beyond specs, I requested 32 psi front and 35 psi rear.

Then it was discovered that I needed two more wheels and tires for the other side. In order to expedite service they offered to take wheels and tires off a slightly used demo. I accepted and drove the 650 miles home a few nights ago. I just checked all four wheels. The two I specifiec at 32 & 35 psi were exactly that. The two that came off the dealer car had 28 psi each, front and rear.

Do not trust a car dealer or a tire dealer to put the correct air pressure in your tires.

I don't see why BMW will want to raise the pressure of the tires. as it is my rears are wearing a bit faster in the middle and I have 34/35 to control a bit the understeering (that was mentioned by an auto cross guy in the E46 fanatics forum). So If increase the rear to anywhere to 40psi i think the middle of the tire will be bold by the end of the month? ..weird. .

Precisely, over inflating them will do as much damage and underinflating. I think the bottom line is that the 18" Run Flats are very sensitive to tire pressure. They need to be just right and then checked every month.

HUmmm using the recommended pressure on the door jam 36/42? I think my tires look like they sit pretty flat against the pavement... I hope I dont wear out the middle sooner than the side of the tire... I mean these tires are EXPENSIVE to replace...

36/42??? That sounds like Max pressure or Max load. Look at the manual. I have attached the pertinent page below. You have too much air in there IMO.
