You must have been driving in your socks, hail the light footed one!! :)

Your passenger did a great job leaning over to do the video, as you would not have been able to drive and record that at the same time would you...

The link works. I wasn't really sure what is the point regarding MPG but at list I liked the music. However, I did noticed that you drive on the wrong side of the road. That might be hazards to your health.

Just kidding mate,

Cheers

On the M25, the onbord computer on my car showed almost 500 miles

not a heavy foot at all. thats what a lot of us try to do keeping that needle on the average mpg to the left. +1 seatbelts for safety

I don't get this at all.
550m on one tank ? Not impossible at all.
But looking at the video( very unclear I'm sorry to say) of your trip computer, shows about 185 miles so far travelled and about 210 miles left in tank. I'm assuming the trip computer was reset last time you filled up.

To me that works out to less than 400 miles. Perhaps I'm missing something.

Or are you just showing how you drive with your foot off the accelerator all the time ( letting the econometer stay on the left ).

BTW 550 miles out of a 70 litre tank is approx 35 mpg - If you get that driving around town then I'm impressed. On a long motorway run though even I can achieve that in my 535d (with very sedate driving).

ressla 08-31-2007 02:02 PM

PS I was rocking to "Big Fun" though...... :)

You must have a feather for your right foot... Antyway... I dun see the point to get that much mileage from my E60.. its the 'ultimate driving machine' not the 'ultimate sipping machine' :P

If my calculations are correct about 480 miles out of a 70litre tank is about 35mpg......what calculation do you use for your above statement out of interest?

1 UK Gallon = 4.54609 litres ( US gallons are smaller)

70 litres = 15.398 gallons

550 miles thus = 35.7 MPG

ressla 09-01-2007 05:54 AM

BTW 480miles = 31.17 MPG

I stand corrected - Thanks for that.

I suppose it could be said that the quoted 550 miles is not a complete 70litres as no one empties a complete tank.....so a further say 20miles might be possible out of what is left bringing it up to near 37mpg - just a thought?

Ok, my 545i is better (really astonishing, considered it is petrol V8) :

Attachment 37029

(pls change extension from .doc to .mp4)

That consumption was reset 50 kms before .
(the road was plain)

A comment by Andy pls :) :)

E60BEEMER 09-01-2007 11:16 AM

ey all, sorry mis info there, on this particular occassion the consumtion was less, but usually if n a motorway like today, 580 was a posssibility, will get some pics up shortly, watch this

Thread.

On regular tank around town, without using the full 285bhp, i tend to get around 480 to 500ish, on motorways like the M1 today, traffic free, the needle was on 50mpg and crusing between 70-85 no problem

5 passengers and luggage.

will get some pics up shortly

not much to say Alex, I'd rather see videos showing the fuel consumption indicator on the other side of the arc...

No, you didn't understand: yesterday morning I go out from the garage in the centre of my city, resetting the consumption .
I go to Como lake, with 50 km highway and some other little roads for 20 km . In the evening, back to home, the CdB shows 10.9 kml, that is unbelievable for a V8 petrol with 4 people on board :)

KAF 09-02-2007 11:17 AM

Last week I did a 30 mile motorway journey at around 70 mph.

Then stopped and filled up.

Range indicator showed 634 miles !!

All I needed to do was drive 634 miles on a flat empty motorway at 70mph to get his fabulous result from a tank of fuel.

:D

I drowe from Copenhahen to Stockholm (650 km's) this summer, and after 300 km's of Swedish highway @ 125 km/h, I stopped and refueled - 1206 km's to empty tank!!!!

4 persons and the trunk was full of our stuff

E60BEEMER 09-03-2007 02:45 AM

some confusement here, as i can see, the objective is of this thread was that in normal driving, or even on a motorway, this car returns fantastic mpg, in the region of 550 to 580 miles in a full tank of aproximately 70 litres.

Thats because of my ecu has been remapped. Without the remap i remember driving reall conservatively and managing in the mid 400s only.

As mentioned earlier i have another pic that i couldnt put last time, as i was at home, at work now with bluetooth connection on computer.

Take a look.

been reading this thread, and now i understand what your saying

I will also try and get a good average run of my 520d in the coming few weeks, and will post it on here also.

Like the music in the vid

KEBABLAND_BMW 09-03-2007 04:34 AM

E60beemer, is that your Silver E60?

I like it, that looks wicked, respect to that, how do on earth do you get that type os milage in a car that looks like it would give you only 5 miles per gallion.

Nice Car......!!

That would never happen with a 530i (petrol)

on the subject of "excellent mpg" - guys, please see my summer's best achievement in my 520d....
If I count / convert (?) from kms correctly, the range I got is about 800 miles in my car.... (Although, I drove only about 780miles with full tank till almost empty... just to see this range for once ..
How about that?

Hi E60 beemer, I notice you have had a remap, who done it and what is your impression, can I also ask that when cold do you get a very faint nano second vibration feel thru the steering wheel when pulling away from standing - I have a 530D 2007 and get it, I used to have a petrol530, maybe its just a deisel thing.

E60BEEMER 09-05-2007 02:41 AM

Oh my gosh, thats right i do get that,

In regards to the ecu remapp, i cant knock it at all, it is certainl the best mod i have done, it gices you fantastic mpg for larger diesil engine , as ours.
And when you put your foor down, you can certainlY feel the torque, then look at the needle quickly climbing.

The time you wil notcie the ecu remapp, is through mostly 2nd, 3rd, 4th Gears and partiall in the 5th, a real mid range pull all the way upto about 145ish, and then the power slows a bit,

But perfectly cabable of 160 and beyond, just need enough road really.

I got this done by Paul at M style in Romford (collier row) Let me know if you would like details. I highly recommend a ecu remap, as it will pay for itself within a month, with excellent mpg i get on a conservative style driving.

700 miles, coming to london?

You wont get a good average if you enter the city, that,ll drop to 400 for sure.

So who remapped your E60, and whats the average consumption you get?

lovemy520d 09-06-2007 07:11 AM

yeh mate, im coming down from Nottingham to london, then to around the south west and back again over 3 days, the journey is likely to be around just under 700 miles, and it will be mostly on the motorway.

Nope not going to the city, visiting a town called Hayes, is that near you, M25.
Im going to be leaving shortly, to avoid the rush hour, as you may well know, the kids are back at school, and well all those mums in their 4x4s are around with no sense of driving.

Will be in london prob around 830ish tonight.

Will post again once im there, and hopefully take some pics.

Sat nav dont let me down....................

E60BEEMER 09-06-2007 07:18 AM

okay will look out for them, Hayes is on the other side of London, we are on the east side, and hayes thats extreme west.

No worries, we can always meet at the BMW SHOW on the 23rd september.

As for women in 4x4s, well thats all there is around our area, lots and lots and lots mums in excessively large jeeps with no idea of how to drive

Have a good journey, and get some pics please.

lovemy520d 09-06-2007 07:31 AM

leaving right now

Check me when im on from my portable later tonight, will have some pics for ya and the members, 170 miles the sat nav has said.

Thanks

E60BEEMER 09-07-2007 02:44 AM

lovemy520d 09-07-2007 03:00 AM
