BMW Aircon is not very good. I have the same problem, it has been back for recharging once but will be going in again as soon as it warms up enough to prove my point.
Go back to the dealer and complain, there is a post here which gives details of a BMW service bulletin in air con problems, you may need a new compressor.

I've got the standard ac.
It cools the car down pretty effectively and quickly. It also blows nice cool air.
I have it set to about 18 degrees, but I like it 'frosty'.
To test:
Make sure AC is set to 'auto', turn the temp all the way down and set the centre vent to cold.
If the air coming out of the vents is still lukewarm - you have a problem (most likely a refridgerant leak). Get yourself down to the dealer to complain.
Tip for cooling the car fast on a hot day. Wind down ALL the windows then drive off for a short distance to vent the heated air from the car. Wind the windows up and turn the ac to full - then hit the 'recirculation' button. This should rapidly cool the car - once happy - hit auto and off you go.

I will definately be asking about the standard A/C when the car goes in for its first service, compared to M-B this system is not very good at delivering very cold air or delivering cold air quickly.
a poor system

How do you and the other members feel now that you have been able to test the systems in real summer weather. My standard air con works fine

Some times it feels not so cold, but when driving longer runs, at least my hands start to get cold if wents blow directly on them. It's difficult to make them blow on upper body because always hands or knees are on the way!
Last summer in France and Italy (+30C) aircon gave us nice mild climate in the car.
