I find the system very effective, coming from a jeep grand cherokee with dual climate control and a huge air conditioning system, the e60 seems to do the job as well as.

You have to set the temp. gauge much lower than the reading though, like 16.C to get it cold. and make sure the idrive is set to cold.

The few warm days we had recently, I felt that the aircon wasn't working. Interestingly, I reset the iDrive, and the aircon got cold. But then a week later, the same thing.

I'm used to aircon being quite cold, when set to minimum temp. Next service I wil be asking "is this right".
When you have your Car Key Memory set at the dealer one of the parameters that can be set on each key is to make the AC + or - 1, 2 or 3 degrees different to the reading on the dial.

Thanks for the advice. Not even tried i drive yet for heating / cooling - still playing with hi fi. Maybe this post was premature. Still reading the manual and trying to fit in the day job that pays for it!!!

Your dealer should have offered to program your keys.

See my post above.

AFAIK it's a feature of Car Key Memory. Your dealer is supposed to offer to program both (up to 4) keys with the individual requirements and colour code the keys.

It's a FOC PDI feature.

They have been known to try to charge for it later.

I have spolern to my dealer about it and they have agreed to do it for me when it is convenient to me.

I will be checking out the i drive settings tomorrow. I note you have dms. I have the same engine as you - did your insurance go up or when fitted or did you not mention it?
Mention what?
