my trip to the dealer today...

i took my 07 530i in for a few maintenance issues before the warranty expires. just FYI, the dealer could NOT review previous check engine lights. i went to a-zone to have the code read a week ago and somehow he accidentally cleared the code, so i have to live with the rough idle until another code is thrown. UGH. at least it's a CPO.
i test drove a 2008 550i while i was there. i test drove a 535i before but not the 550i. it was pretty cool...i could definitely tell a difference in the low rpm's because of the torque difference. the 60+ mph acceleration was not nearly as significant as i was expecting. the I6 is actually quite impressive in comparison. the 2008 had the sport's package and it felt like a rougher ride, but otherwise i could not tell much of a difference, but...
i got a loaner 328i with the M package and it is a lot of fun. the sport's package and it's small coupe size definitely makes a big difference in handling over our over-zealous E60s. but, i don't feel like the E92 is spacious at all...i couldn't imagine taking a trip in it, but it is a lot of fun to drive on the highway. surprisingly, it is quicker than i expected it to be, too. i got to sit in the 135i and i actually felt like it was more spacious than the 3...
anyway, it was a worthwhile trip to the dealer. there is such a stark difference in driving an E60 compared to an E92. i see why so many of you guys swap out for the M3. the 550i is pretty quick but honestly the 328i feels more maneuverable and nimble than the 550i i drove around. anyway, my .02 cents...

oh and the 328i has the "professional" sound system...i'm not sure what that is, but i thought there were only 2 options in the US? L7 and standard? anyway, this professional system is HORRIBLE. i mean it is so remarkably bad i don't have words for it. AUX ipod sounded like shit, and the cd sounds terrible plus i have it on the max volume and it is barely audible. i don't know if this car just has bad speakers, or maybe someone switched the ones in my E60 out for better ones, but it doesn't even compare. ugh, awful.

nope, the audio is horrible in the loaner 328. like i said, don't know what the professional sound system is, but i would say it's a 2 out of 10 as far as quality goes. i had a 1990 toyota corolla a couple of years ago that sounded better, and i'm really not kidding about that.

gotta give BMW credit to servicing their cars before they sell them as CPO
had the car 4 months, took it in and here are the problems:
1. exhaust solenoid broken, lack of MPG and rough idle
2. coolant leak
3. volume knob doesn't work properly
4. CCC software is severely outdate
5. idrive software is severely outdated, causing lags in the system and potentially low MPG
good job BMW! lol, at least it is under warranty, but still, you'd think they would have done all this before they sold it...
