Unless this car had a new body shell how could it be repaired, and by a BMW dealer!

If it did not have a re-shell then i would seriously consider offloading that particular car ASAP.

Everything CAN be repaired, BUT:
THIS is a total loss!
If this gets repaired, you really don't want to be in it when something goes wrong and you have an accident! Trust me!
It is ILLEGAL to repair this kind of damage in Germany.
I would say the same!
In a case like this my insurance company would have baught me a brand new car.

Never heard before of changing the whole Body Shell
+ the springs, shocks and half the interiour, I assume?

Sorry about the incident mystic530
Did you get a complete list of what was done?

The list was endless. Suprisingly not much of the interior was damaged, and neither were the springs and shocks. Only the roof. Since it would weaken the entire structure if only that was repaired, they recomended to replace the body shell. Mainly the parts were all the electornics that are housed in the roof area.

As much as I wouldn't want the car to be repaired, once BMW claim that they can repair it, the insurance would not claim for a total loss. There was no question of choice here. I was bound to have it repaired. But as mentioned earlier, the repair job was unbelievable.
