My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
Just for an update. My last unfortunate steering experience with the 545i was my last and this weekend I dumped it for a new 2007 550 which I pick up on tuesday morning. I am really excited about the change. Particularly with the comfort seats. The sport seats were no good.
Hopefully all the bugs are finally eliminated and I can genuinely all the amazing pluses of this vehicle.

I picked up the vehicle with 17 miles on it today! My initial impressions are as follows:
The fit and finish of the 550 are better than the 545 (which I traded with only 18,200 miles). The doors shut with a nicer quiet thud. The steering wheel is higher quality and more ergonomically designed. The comfort seats compared to the sport variety....well that's another stratosphere worth of improvement. The little dials for the fan controls, the padded i-drive manipulator, the real-time traffic on the navigation, the extra storage bin in the trunk, the starter "tablet" and push button mechanism all make this vehicle superior. As far as power is concerned, I am going to be relatively gentle on the engine for the first few hundred miles. The overall ride seems about the same, but I reckon that 35 more horsepower should amount to something on the positive side! Photos may follow, but frankly from the outside it looks like any other silver gray e60 (which is quite fine to me)!
