My Ride: 530i 6 speed
OK, I picked up the 545i replacement yesterday. Felt right at home.
Back in a regular manual now. No more shuddering, hesitating, etc. Now, having made the comparison, I can definitely sat that there was something wrong with the old car!
Other key observations in random order:
The comfort seats are nice, but not soooo much different from the sport seats.
I have less knee space with the comfort seats.
The sweet inline 6 sound is back
The ride is A LOT less harsh
MP3 works fine (old car didn't have it)
Same steering wheel, but without SMG paddles
Here are old and new right next to each other (guess which one is which).
My little one in front of the car that was parked right next to my new 530i.
There was a guy that drove this car and it seemed that he also bought a used M5 while I was there.....
Interior shot
AUX in in the worst possible position....
My last car didn't have this display, otherwise IDrive seems to be the same.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Glad you are satisfied with the new 530. I did note with interest your 20.4 mpg stat on your iDrive. My early 545 routinely gets 21, so with $3+ /gal. pricing, I'll be interested in your break-in results.
Have fun,
Ray Hull

Congrats and good luck I always had a soft spot for the sport wheels on the 530. Looks nice and clean. Silver is always a great pick for the E60 and, with that grey interior, it looks mighty spiffy indeed.

Hi drjochen,
Forgot to ask. Can you see the gauges better with the sport steering wheel?
