My Ride: 530i 6 speed
Thumbs up

The lease for my 530i is up in less than 5 months. I want to purchase (not lease) my next car and drive it a bit longer.
I have been starting to think about my options and wanted some random thoughts and input.

Option 1: buy the current car
The current car has been problem free in the past 2 1/2 years (unlike the 545i I had before....). Its got everything in it I need, but the warranty will expire, I need new tires, etc.

Option 2: get a 535i
MSRP for my dream car is $65,000, which is truly pushing it for me financially and is ~ $6,000 more than my fully equipped 545i was 4 years ago
also, I would get the "old" IDrive

Option 3: get a 4 door M3, which comes in at $63,000 and was always my dream car from the E30 M3 on

Option 4: get a 335i, which is $52,000 and has the new Idrive

Option 5: get the Audi A4 3.2, which is $47,700 with almsot the same equipment.

Not much price difference between the M3 sedan and 535i it seems. I guess it would come down to engine vs. overall car size. In terms of the A4 option...next . I would keep the 545i and wait for the F10. GL with your decision....

That thought crossed my mind, too. But insurance etc. is too much. Mt commute also is mainly stop & go, so not much fun to be gained in daily driving.

Audi RS4 or S6, case closed. My 545i isn't the most reliable either...damn shame really.

My suggestion is to renegotiate the buy out for your 530 ... car sales and pre-owned prices are dropping everywhere ... the residual you & BMW set two years ago has moved downhill along with the economic mudslide!

Then, before you sign off on any contract, leverage your dealer to cut a deal on the BMW Extended Maintenance and / or BMW CPO Warranty .

Lastly when you walk out with a car you know real well and know that the newest 5 Series is probably only a year or so away ... tell your dealer you'll be back for a really sweet deal

+1 on keeping the car and negotiating for the extended warranty and maintenance, however, if GENEaTALS has already taken advantage of the rebate, CCA will not send another check for buying the car. The rebate deal is only for one rebate per VIN.

Yea ... that's a bummer ... took advantage of it when I flipped the lease on my '98 Z3 and bought it back as a CPO. But at least it extends his warranty until the updated 5'er is available.
