hi!
i dont know if its only me, but the part of the world where i live is mostly sandy sometimes.
i have the E60 2009 530i and the gear nob has this plastic thing that covers the extension and moves with the gear, always gets dust or sand stuck in it and everytime i change gear i hear this annoying dreadful scratching sound from the dust stuck in-between.
i keep it clean as much as possible and air vaccum/ blow to get it out but its such a headache
any way to tackle this?

Keep it dry/grease free (dirt/sand/dust loves oil); keep a can of compressed air (like to clean keyboards) and use frequently. Or, don't drive with windows down and keep fresh air filters changed often. Also, in these conditions all filters and oil are to be changed on a sever duty cycle (frequently).

i was wondering if there is another option, like changing the gear bracket or nob to avoid sand going inside in the first place.
