So to answer your questions, my insurance company is Commerce Insurance. Its a so-so company if you ask me. Decision to take the car to a BMW certified body shop was mine. I have to admit it took quite a few negotiation attempts to get Commerce agree to pay the labor rates of a BMW certified body shop. It helped that I was not at fault :-). I am switching to Liberty Mutual at the end of current term. I heard they have a BMW Concierge Service you can sign up for, where they pay for repairs at BMW certified body shops.

As far as suspension goes it was an easy fix, as per the body shop. They replaced control arms, shock absorber, stabilizer bar, links and a bunch of other things. I think they also replaced the CV axle but I have to double check. I agree with you, I was worried about suspension the most but it came out just fine!

This particular body shop will never use aftermarket parts, period. They will hassle with insurance company to get the right parts, even though they have to be ordered in Germany. It is a great body shop! They take their time to fix but quality is what matters the most.
